On Saturday Nov. 12th Rhinebeck
Chamber Music Society presented Peter and the Wolf performed by
the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet and narrated by
Valentina Charlap-Evans.
There were 2 performances, first
in the morning at the Hudson Opera House in Hudson and then in
the afternoon at The Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck. The
free children’s concert was very well attended. There was not an
empty seat to be had in the Church. The children and their
families sat in rapt attention as the musicians first described
their instruments and then went on to perform the always
wonderful Peter and the Wolf. It was a magical performance.
After the concert, the Church of the Messiah provided an
opportunity for the audience to meet the performers and enjoy
cider and cookies.
The concert was made possible by bequest from the estate of Iris Stedener to Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society. Iris was a music teacher; RCMS thought she would have approved of the money being used to bring a wonderful music experience to children.
